Artist's Comments

I've been wanting to do a new ID, and finally I have. Muaha.

Started with the eyes. My eyes. For once, they aren't all tweaked somehow. ^^

I didn't want it banner-shaped though, so I skimmed through my pics for something to add. Almost put in a double pic of me (mirror, roar!), but I saw the plant one and liked it much better. In case you can't tell, I was laying down when I took it, it's of my ceiling and spiderplant (and dreamcatcher!), and you can kinda see my window. I figured it was much more fitting.

Then, the text... easy enough to stick "Novalyyn" on it, being the name I use. The rest is all metaphoric stuff, but I'm sure you could have figured that out. ;P

And I suppose I'm up to attempting to explain... (after all, I said what each pic in my last ID was) It's fairly simple, really.

Blackened lilly: That comes from a poem I wrote by the same title, and refers to something imperfect, not quite pure because of thing done to it. The bit of poem that I always considered most important is, "A wilted rose, a blackened lilly yet grows / history defied?" (No, I won't further explain that here. Figure it out.)

Rider of butterflies: This also relates to something I wrote, a short story called "Bound to a Butterfly's Whim." Aside from beauty, butterflies are often referenced for things that come and go, never staying in one place. The story takes it further, being a few minutes in the life of a woman who can never seen to stay in one place or with one person, no matter how much she'd like to (a few people know that it was written as a projection of my own future >.< ). As a rider, it is implied that whatever is being ridden has been tamed to at least some degree.

Reaches out for stars: This should be the most obvious, as it's almost cliche by now. When a person is told to "reach for the stars," they are being told to dream and achieve great things. It relates to me mostly because I'll soon be going to college, something that only a couple years ago I thought would never happen. There's other things too, but that's the main one. ^_^
